Human Resources Assistant (Office Automation)
Serving as a Human Resources Assistant makes you a valuable member of the FLETC team and mission. The selected individual will process personnel actions, maintain official personnel files and conduct inprocessing of new employees. Typical assignments include: Preparing and inputting all personnel actions into the automated personnel/payroll data system.Reviewing output for accuracy, researching and correcting errors.Maintaining electronic-Official Personnel Files which includes filing, purging, auditing records, and requesting files from other human resources offices or archive centers. Computing service computation dates for leave, step increases, tenure, thrift savings plan, and retirement. Initiating background investigation cases, drug testing and requests for personnel data from other federal human resources office for new employees.Researching and responding to questions in person, by telephone or by written correspondence.Conducting new employee orientation.
The qualification requirements listed below must be met by the closing date of this announcement.To qualify at the GS-05 level, you must you must be able to type 40 wpm and must meet one of the following:At least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-04 level in the federal service performing administrative functions in support of HR functions. ORSuccessful completion of 4 years of education in any field from an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university (above high school) for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. Must provide a copy college transcripts. ORAn equivalent combination of specialized experience and education (above high school). Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours will be combined with the specialized experience. Must provide a copy of college transcripts.To qualify at the GS-06 level, you must be able to type 40 wpm and must meet one of the following:At least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-05 level in the Federal service performing HR functions to include computing service computations dates, processing personnel actions, and researching and responding to inquiries pertaining to employee benefits, pay, and veteran's preference entitlements. ORAs a general rule, education is not creditable at this grade level, however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position. Must provide a copy of your college transcripts.Time-in-gradeCurrent and former federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05 grade level in the federal service. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.If this position is filled below the GS-07 grade level, you may be non-competitively promoted without further competition when the supervisor determines that the duties of the higher grade level are being performed and all regulatory requirements have been met. .
