Physician, ACOS for Research
The Associate Chief Of Staff for Research & Development (ACOS R&D), functions as the Chief of Research Service, responsible for the management and administration of the OKC VA Medical Centers $3.1 million research program. The ACOS R&D, provides leadership and management for the entire research program. The position ensures that the facility meets all performance expectations related to the program as well as coordinates proactively to meet the demands of our numerous research programs.
Duties include but are not limited to:Initiating policies, procedures and organizational structures.Planning, developing and directing all complex scientific and administrative activities.Responsible for all administrative and budgetary operations.Supervises and evaluates service personnelResponsible for compliance with both VISN and VACO mandated research policies.

Basic Requirements: Citizenship of the United States. Noncitizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with Department of Veterans Affairs policy.Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.Physicians must have completed residency training or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leadingto eligibility for board certification.Proficiency in spoken and written English.Physical requirements outlined below.

Physical Requirements: Candidates must successfully complete a pre-employment physical. Position requires walking, standing, reading typewritten material without strain, ability to hear conversational voice, emotional and mental stability, and working closely with others. Must be able to physically respond when needed by prompt appearance at required location.
