As a AUDITOR, GS-0511-11, you will utilize professional accounting and auditing knowledge, provide recommendations in the solution of accounting and operational problems and implementation of new or changed regulations, procedures and analysis of automated systems. Perform complex professional accounting and review activities involving in the analysis of accounting records. Conduct in-depth research and analysis in the coordination and resolution of problems. Review automated accounting and financial systems and identifies the need for changes to enhance system capability to track and report financial reports and operational data used by local management.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 1 year of experience equivalent to the GS-09 level experience which demonstrates a validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of auditing; the ability to apply auditing program principles, procedures and requirements to perform financial audits; and the ability to follow directions, to read, retain, and understand a variety of instructions, regulations, policies and procedures. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-11 Must have at least 24 months of auditing experience that provided knowledge of auditing principles and procedures, an excellent understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the National Guard audit business program requirements; experience conducting audits in accordance with directives and policies, evaluating internal controls to determine the level of system reliability; and determine audit procedures; experience with auditor examinations and tests that used statistical and/or judgmental sampling of financial records and management controls to determine the degree of efficiency, economy, and effectiveness of audited activities. NOTE #1: Security Clearance requirements are determined by position and/or MOS/AFSC compatibility. NOTE #2: Applicant must be verified as eligible for entry into the higher financial management certification before final approval and appointment is processed. MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: A) An accounting or auditing degree or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law. OR B) Combination of education and experience: At least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge. This combination MUST also include one of the following: (1) Twenty-four (24) semester hours in accounting or auditing courses of appropriate type and quality. This can include up to 6 hours of business law. (2) A certificate as Certified Public Accountant or a Certified Internal Auditor, obtained through written examination. (3) Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in accounting or auditing, e.g., 15 semester hours, but that does not fully satisfy the 24-semester-hour requirement of option A, provided that you have successfully worked at the full-performance level in accounting, auditing, or a related field. MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard.
